AND NOW YOUR VOICE IT'S HAUNTING ME, JUST OUT OF REACH, IT BURIES ME ( IS THIS THE BETTER OFF THAT YOU MEANT? )This school was starting to feel like a prison.
As Skyanna Pearce made her way through the halls on this late evening, a stack of papers and books clutched tightly in her arms she walked swiftly and diligently as if she was on an important mission. She was only heading to the Great Hall for a late evening dinner, she unable to attend then rest of the school at the normal eating hours. She was busy in her office grading papers (a task that she generally despises), avoiding the new additions to the halls of Hogwarts. Ministry workers. Every time Sky saw one in the school she couldn't help but sneer in their direction, disapproval coming from the werewolf. And they call her a dog, they are the one doing the work of the crazy minister and his idiotic ideals. The thought was enough to make her sick to her stomach, not just because she was a direct target of these workers, but because they all had no backbone. She wondered if any of them actually thought about what they were doing, actually thought about the curses that these so called 'non humans' have to live with. Like Sky wants to go through a tremendously painful process every month. But to everyone else who isn't like her she is just a monster.
Hiding out in her office all day had it's advantages. Sky hated large crowds, and there wasn't a bigger crowd then when all the students gathered for dinner in the great hall. She made the mistake of going there for dinner at a decent hour several times, she regretting it ever since. She had to make small talk with these professors who were as dull as a doorknob, her only source of entertainment coming from Alistair. But even then subject matter gets old, only being about to talk to him about Quidditch and nothing else really (aside from Ravenclaw kicking Gryffindor ass this year). The sun having been set a good hour ago, Sky finally decided that the great hall would be desolate enough for her to enter and not be disturbed. She was having a working dinner tonight, her many books and papers to be graded still clutched tightly in her hands like it was her last life line. For the first time in a while Skyanna didn't feel safe in the halls of Hogwarts, and she really didn't like it. As far as she was concerned the Ministry had no business being in Hogwarts and should just pack up and leave - But Skyanna knew better and knew that wasn't going to happen.
It was only going to be a matter of time before they started questioning her, or start to make her life a living hell. A werewolf teaching at Hogwarts? She was surprised it wasn't considered complete blasphemy. She had one Ministry worker already sit in on one of her classes, which almost made her want to rip her hair out. He was just quietly sitting in back, jotting down notes and sometimes asking questions about the material that Skyanna was teaching. She kept her mouth shut for the time being, normally she prepared to throw some kind of awful remark in his face about how he should get out of her classroom because he is an insignificant swine, but she refrained. Skyanna knew how to pick her battles wisely, and this was not a battle to be fought. At lest not yet. They were evaluating her on her job, and her job was the only thing she had going for her right now. God knows they are probably going to try saying how she is unfit to teach because of her condition, but the headmaster trusted her, that should be good enough for them. Not to mention her students got results, she was a hard worker and loved what she did. No one seems to care and no one seems to notice, all they see is -
THUMP
Brought out of thought immediately after a head on collision, Sky watched in horror as all her papers flew out of her arms and scattered across the floor in front of the great hall. "Bloody hell," she murmured to herself, realizing that her constant thinking and lack of paying attention to where she was going caused her to bump into a man - a ministry worker, it looked like - and drop everything. As clumsy as she was Sky thought she was going to make it to the Great Hall with no hassle, but she wasn't that lucky. She shot the Ministry worker a small look and bent down to start picking up the papers. She normally would just ignore hia presence, but given the circumstance she decide a little help wouldnt be horrible. After a moment she glanced back to the ministry worker with a disapproving glare.
"A little help?"

"Protection". That was what they had told him. "Protection for you and the other people under the Ministry's rule", was the line that they told Ted as he waited in line for registration under Delacroix’s Decree, but he wasn't convinced. If for by the sheer ignorance of registering Wizards and Witches for no reason other than being different, for the pretentious looks he got as he signed the papers and received his card from the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. The name told you everything you needed to know about the pious assholes: Control. That was all this was about, control. Ted wasn't green enough not to be able to figure that out, this was all about Astor making his dominance known throughout the wizarding community. Ted had known from day one that Astor was a prick, but he was only just beginning to realize how deep it went. Things around the Ministry were starting to look like what the "Magic is Might" administration did. Whatever the case, Ted didn't smelled a rat in the Ministry. However, he wasn't sure if it was Astor...or the Ministry itself. As he sat in the forward car on the Hogwarts Express, Lupin tried to convince himself that he was just being paranoid, but as he had learned, just because you call it paranoid doesn't mean there isn't a monster in the darkness waiting to rip your face off. Thoughts not much perkier than those floating through his head, Ted sat and waited for his mini "vacation" to start. Yeah...right. Vacation.
My ass. Ted walked through the towering doors into Hogwarts proper just as the sun started to near the surrounding hilly horizon, a tattered canvas pack slung over his back. He shrugged his shoulder awkwardly, trying to get the ripped strap into a comfortable spot and off of his collarbone, but he wasn't too focused on it. Instead his tired eyes swept over the cavernous ceiling and the shadows therein. Teddy wasn't quite sure how he felt about being back in the place that his parents had died. Hell, he had spent his student years doing everything to either get out or forget where he was. Though with James always present, it was kind of hard to remain introspective all of the time. James. Christ, he wished he could blame his visit all on him, but the truth of the matter was that his superiors had allowed him to take his little sabbatical so that he could "Ascertain the security of the Human-like magical creature community of our country's most infamous school". Ted knew the real reason: Astor was worried about the students at Hogwarts-not because of the Human-like magical creatures-but for the students themselves. Ted figured that Astor saw that Hogwarts students where dangerous when they disagreed on a political issue. Just ask Delores Umbridge. No, Astor-being the true politician that he was- was using Ted to spy on Hogwarts and Lupin knew it. He felt a sour taste loom in his mouth as his eyes came to rest on the four colo- "Son-of-a-bitch!", Ted exclaimed as he tumbled to the ground, papers and quills flying and clattering around him. A hot retort prepared itself on his tongue as he pushed himself up on his elbows. Well, it did until he looked up. Upon seeing the woman in front of him the reply died out as quickly as it had came. Ted tired not to stare, he really did. Well, maybe not that hard. When the mystery woman spoke up, daggers flying from her eyes, Ted blinked a few times before finding his voice. It was somewhere near a page marked "Uses of Orion's Belt". "Oh!...Uh, sorry." Ted snapped out of his thousand-mile-stare and pulling his head back to reality. He made himself useful, grabbing anything that hadn't been there before, including along with the quills and paper a wand and small sexton. Ted handed the items gingerly back to the woman. "I, uh...Sorry", the auror murmured awkwardly. "I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Are you alright?"

AND I WILL FIND THE ENEMY WITHIN BECAUSE ( I CAN FEEL IT CRAWL BENEATH MY SKIN )Bent over picking up the scattered papers that were now cluttering the hallway, Sky could feel the eyes of the stranger following her every move, but did not bother commenting on it. Oddly enough Sky was somewhat use to all the stares, she got them a lot from not only her students but from other people as well. The price to pay for being a young teacher with a small waist line and a large scar on her shoulder. Majority of the time that is what people were staring at, but right now it was hidden from view by her white button up short sleeve shirt. A black shirt came from her waist to just above her knees, her wand just visible above the seam of the pocket. Sky had left her robes at her office, she not really feeling like being uncomfortably warm while she ate. Either way it was apparent that she wasn't a student, she not only looking older but her clothes were much more professional then anything the students wear.
She merely nodded at his sorry comment, Sky not actually looking toward the worker until they had successfully gotten all her belongings up off the floor. What he had to say was the last of her concerns, Sky having several essays and tests to grade within these papers, sneaky students with sticky fingers could have walked by and snatched up one of the work of another student - it would have been a hot mess. Luckily no students were actually around, the young werewolf and gentlemen were alone it seemed, though Sky was looking for an excuse to cut this interaction somewhat short. Finally when she turned back to him she sighed a bit, her long brown hair tumbling back to it's rightful place as she blew a piece of stray hair out of her eyes. "A ministry worker with a heart? I didn't think they existed," she commented, taking her belongings from his hands gently, their hands brushing slightly in the interaction. "Thanks," she murmured, eyes fluttering down to the mess that would need to be reorganized.
"It's just as much my fault as it is yours. But I'm fine - yourself?" she asked, admitting to her own clumsy behavior. She wasn't afraid of admitting to her own mistakes, it takes a real man - and I use the term 'man' lightly - to admit to his or her own mistakes. Taking in the man's appearance Sky scanned him up and down with her bright blue orbs, it probably painfully obvious from where he was standing. She didn't care too much, Sky never taking much thought to any of her actions. Though she knew he was a ministry worker it looked like he had just arrived. At lest she hasn't seen him around the halls, Sky having seen them all at lest once since they started coming here. "Did you just arrive?" she asked, arching her eyebrow, curious behavior peaking through. If he just got here then chances are he didn't know of her .. non human status yet, which means she could possibly show him that non humans are just as normal as regular witches and wizards. It could change his view on this entire situation, and lets face it : In this day and age any ally is one worth having. Struggling with her things to get her right hand free she outstretched a hand. "Skyanna Pearce - Ravenclaw Head of House and Astronomy Professor," she introduced, having some kind of manners, even if some of her comments and actions suggested otherwise.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ted blinked at the woman when she identified him as a Ministry man, the label taking him off beat. It was only until he realized he still had his stupid Auror badge pinned to his black pea coat that he gave weak smile back. He never really liked being looped in with the big Whigs down in London, but he also knew that he would when he first became an Auror. Just one more of the "lovely" perks working for the Ministry of Magic, Yee Haw.
Ted tried his best to rearrange his appearance, smoothing out his worn jeans and eying his scuffed brown biker boots, both a little worse for wear, though the would have been even if he hadn't run into someone. He ran a hand through his hair partially to put it back to its kempt self, but mostly to check to make sure it was its normal dark brown color. Ted's hair had a habit of changing color when he was surprised, Thanks mum.
Seeing that everything was as it ought to be, Ted returned his full attention to the lady, herself just finishing her own expection. he looked down at his gold badge, quickly reaching up to take the damn thing off before speaking up. "Suppose that's an accurate assumption miss. Though, to be fair, most adults at Hogwarts don't sport a figure like yours.", He looked partly up from his chest, giving the woman a small smile from his unshaven face.
He took the badge and stuffed it into one of his coat's many cavernous pockets, putting his right out for the lady as she introduced herself. "Ted Lupin, Auror. I'm alright, not the first time I've been knocked on my ass and it surely wont be the last." Ted waved off her comment about it being as much her fault politely, coming back with, "In any case, I apologize Miss Skyanna.", he said, shaking the professor's smooth hand.
Introductions done, Ted reached down to pick up his pack from where it had landed after the collision, slinging the bag back over his shoulder. "In fact I have just arrived...sort of an impromptu visit to my old Alma mater.". Ted considered telling her the real reason he had decided to get out of Dodge, but decided the less people knew about his suspicions, the better. " I have some family here that I don't get to see all too often and figured I could try to fit into their schedule. I promise I won't be too much of a bother during my stay.", Ted said, crossing one finger over his chest. He tried for a friendly smile, but it probably just came off as tired.

I WANT TO SINK MY TEETH INTO ( SKIN I CAN'T SEE THROUGH )From a young age Sky had been accustom to hating ministry workers. It was nothing personal against this gentlemen, Sky's father having all the blame on her loathing of anyone in the profession. However Mr. Lupin had caught Sky's attention for the moment, his compliment catching her off gaurd. A shade of light pink came across her face, Sky normally prepared for comments such as those, but in this case she found herself flattered. She grinned a bit in response to his scruffy smile, answering smoothly "Do lines like that work for you on most women?" she questioned, eyes staying focused curiously on the boot wearing-scruffy beard ministry worker. What caught Sky's attention the most is how different he was from all the other workers she has seen so far. They were all clean shaven and wore expensive suits and shoes. But Ted did not. Individuality. Sky liked it.
Ted Lupin. Now there was a familiar name. Being older then most of the adults Sky has met she generally didn't spend too much time with them back during Hogwarts. But that name struck a bell, Sky not only recognizing it from school (despite the fact he was a few years younger than she), but from daily prophets. Remus and Nymphadora Lupin - werent they his parents? Realizing the two died in the castle Sky kept her mouth shut about it at the moment, knowing that she would bring it up eventually. It was just how she did things. She grinned a bit at his next comment. "Sounds like a personal problem. You may want to work on that," she taunted lightly, knowing she was one of the clumsiest people around. Either way she nodded at his apology appreciating it none the less. "my apologies as well," she retorted politely, her smooth hand shaking his.
Nodding at her correct accusation she glanced to the great hall, her stomach aching with the pains of hunger. But hearing the elegant words slur from Ted's mouth she arched her eyebrow. He's smart. At lest that is what he appeared, Sky growing more and more curious about him as they continued friendly banter. She was impressed, generally the ministry workers have no idea what they are talking about when they use such obscure words such as he. "What year did you graduate? I'm pretty sure I was attending Hogwarts with you,"
she questioned, shifting her weight a bit to get more comfortable. On the mention of family Sky took the open opportunity to see if Ted was the son she thought he was. "Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't your parents did here? Fighting the death eaters?" she asked, having no filter or care if she crossed a line she shouldn't have. Skyanna Pearce had no boundaries, she wanting to shake things up as much as possible. But not a moment later she felt some remorse for her inquiry, catching his tired appearance when he attempted to offer her his smile. She cleared her throat, putting her hand in front of her mouth as she did so. She then pushed past Ted, hand grazing the door to the Great hall. Before entering she turned back to him. "Care to join me for some late night dinner? We can talk about how exactly you won't be bothering me while you are here," she offered a small smile before slipping into the door, but pushing it open enough for him to catch it if he took the in invitation. As she entered the hall she stumbled a bit on her heels, they making a sound every time they hit the stone floor. The great Hal was empty, the last bits of food slowly being cleared from the tables by the house elves. However once they caught sight of her they stopped, even the house elves knowing she always came for a late dinner. About a quarter wall to the staff table Sky stopped and turned herself around to see if Ted was following. She wouldn't let he or anyone else know she was hoping he was - his company was enjoyable so far, not to mention her hidden agenda was still an objective. ____________ ` status; Sorry for the wait! ` tags; Dean with ted! c: ` lyrics; beware the jubjub bird and shun the frumious bandersnat h - forgive Durden[/blockquote][/blockquote]

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ted shrugged when Sky called him out on the complement he gave her. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I was simply commenting on the oddity of a young lady such as yourself having the title of professor in this castle when it is typically held by persons smelling of prunes and formaldehyde." He put a hand in one jean pocket, using the other to gesture, "Now, if I were going to use a line I would say something about how well that skirt looks on you and the way it complements your remarkable eyes." Ted shrugged again, his eyes sparkling, "But that's if I was going to give you a line." Crappy situations and tired nature be damned, Ted's mouth was always in rare form.
"I was here from 2011 thru 2018, I was a Gryffindor, but who knows why. What about you?" It wasn't that Ted didn't like his time in Gryffindor, it was just that he didn't see any of the token red and gold qualities in himself. It was one of the things that made him a good Auror, but he would never admit it.
Ted blinked at Skyanna when she mentioned him "fame", if you could call it that. He always felt thar his parents had done more in their life than die and shunned away from people who thought of their last moments as their best. Anyway, with people like the Weasly's, Longbottom's and of course the Potter's around, Ted hardly felt like the Lupin name should be recognized. Though he had to admit, the fact that Sky had remembered his parents fir what they did conflict his feelings a bit. As it were, Ted just awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck while he spoke. "I...Yeah. They where my parents." He guessed they technically still were, but he had never met them, so Ted always thought of them in the past tence.
The worst of the awkwardness behind them, Ted watched as Skyanna motioned for him to join her for a late dinner. His heart lept a little at the words she used, but he told the troublesome muscle to stow it for the time being. He wasn't awake enough for romantic antics. At least, not yet. So, weariness slowly evaporating, Ted followed in Sky's wake, curious as to what the she had in store for the night.

I WANT TO SINK MY TEETH INTO ( SKIN I CAN'T SEE THROUGH )What a wise ass.
Sky listened to his words carefully, starting to pick up on his personality a little more with each sentence sewed. She looked at him a bit insulted, catching everything he said with old humor, returning the gesture. "Is there something wrong with smelling like Prunes? It just so happens to be my favorite scent Mr. Lupin," she told him seriously, looking slightly offended. She was kidding of course, prunes had to be one of the most disgusting things on the planet, but she could return the sass once dished to her. Sky didn't bother letting him know she was kidding, the small grin tugging at her lips should have been sign enough that it was a joke. Though most people tend to look past these nuances, Sky's dry sense of humor generally going unnoticed and misunderstood.
Hearing he was a Gryffindor made Sky roll her eyes. It wasn't something with Ted, but every time she thinks Gryffindor all she can think of is Alistar, and he just makes her want to start kicking house elves. "2008-2014. You're young - I probably wouldn't have talked with you much - unless you played quidditch?" she admitted, her anti-social behavior in school being the leading cause of her lack of friends. She was seeker for her house however, and because of this she generally knew of all the players. She wasnt complaining of her loniness, she generally was better off alone anyways. "I was a ravenclaw, probably for my lack of socializing with anything other than books," she shrugged casually, she. Of ashamed of the life she lived at school. She had a few friends she cared for, an ex here and there but she was more into the 'breaking out of her family's shadow' then house parties. All people seemed to care about was her wealthy, pureblood status. It was rather annoying honestly. Never the less Sky didn't remember much of Ted, other then the fact that is parents were dead.
Sky could see the mention of his parents struck a nerve, or something of the sort. She felt a bit better when her suspicions were confirmed, merely nodding a bit to his response. "It's a shame what happened to them. I truly admired your father, more or so for the things he did when alive then at his death," she explained sheepishly, having nothing but the up most respect for Remus Lupin. He was a lot like her, after all, beig a professor who was a werewolf. Even though what happened to him was unfortunate and costed him his position Sky still admired him for the choices he made and the way he held a class. Sky only heard stories of course, but when she was hired she knew he had to have some part in it. Even with him changing he still had to have made an impression with his work for Hogwarts to have another professor like him. Sky offered a gentle smile before escaping into the great hall.
She was pleased to see Ted enter the hall not moments after she, the young werewolf waiting for him to reach her position before starting to walk to the table again. Long brunette locks bounced lightly with each step while she glanced to the clearly exhausted worker. "food will give you a bit more energy - help you not look so zombie like," she commented, sky personally being terrified of the walking dead. But he didn't need to know that. Reaching the table Sky took a seat and placed her stack of papers down and separated them before going through them and organizing the essays and tests by class. After a moment she looked back to Ted. "So I'm assuming you were sent here to keep an eye on the non human students and faculty?" she questioned, though she already knew the answer. ____________

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ted walked into the great hall, nostalgia creeping over him like a cool wind. He had spent a great amount of time in the room, though if he had known that it was in the hall that his parents bodies had been kept he might have chosen a different place to occupy during his tenure in the walls. As it were though, Ted found a silent comfort as he walked between the four rows of tables. He saw a glass still standing and with a small flick of his wand, made it come to his hand. he didn't bother cleaning it with magic, instead taking a worn bandanna out of his back pocket, rubbing it round the sides and the interior. Then with a small word of "aguamente", Ted filled it with water. Ted looked up at Sky as she started to talk to him again. "Heh. Yeah, right. Me, quidditch." He gave Sky a small knowing smile, "I was more of the quiet type. I kept mostly to myslef. It's a wonder why I was even in Gryffindor."Skyanna surprised Ted when she very solemnly complemented his father. He casually nodded his thanks, not wanting to make things any more awkward. "...Thank you. Its good to know that people still remember them for what they did."Ted sat down opposite of Sky, setting his bag next to him and taking a pull from his glass. He Choked on his drink though at Skyanna's directness, coughing for a couple of seconds and blinking at her a little. After he regained his composure and wiped his face off, he cleared his throat and spoke. "Uh...honestly? No. Realisticaly? Yes.". Ted knew that that explaination wasn't going to satisfy the woman, even though barely knew her. So, after a pause and a sigh, Ted started again. "Astor likes to keep all of his ducks in a row, and always where he can see them. He's using my leave time as an excuse to "check in" on things here at Hogwarts. Though he sould know better to send a Metamorphagus to inspect things on behaf of the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, considering I'm just as much of a target as everyone else." He looked at the old wood, notches and dings almost artfully applied. He wasn't usually one for frankness, especially to a near stranger, but he had a good feeling about Skyanna and plus: Ted was always a sucker for a pretty face, and her face was certainly pretty.

YOURE LOVELY BABY, THIS WAR IS CRAZY ( I WON'T LET YOU DOWN )There wasnt another soul in the great hall aside from Sky and Ted, she feeling a bit more relaxed. Sky hated crowds, and though she generally was alone when she came to dinner at this time there was always that chance happening that a group of students had the same idea as she. Pleased that it was just going to be her and Ted and smiled a bit to herself, attention still focused forward. She hoped that they awful ministry workers that were around already ate and wouldn't be bothering the two. That would have been just what she needed, her cover given away by some annoying worker asking her all kinda of questions about how her job was affected by her status and why she had yet to go turn herself in.
Following Ted's lead Sky grabbed an empty goblet and looked it over quickly to be sure it was clean before murmuring the same spell, it filling with water. She took a sip before looking to Ted. She offered a small smile to his concerns, part of her bangs falling in front of her eyes before answering. "You're modest. Just because you weren't one of the social butterflies like say .. Theodore Bond doesn't mean you're any less of a Gryffindor. The hat never makes a mistake love," she reminded him, the thought of Theodore coming into her head. They were the same age and same house but completely different people. Sky only knew of Theodore because of his grade-school crush on her, which at the time was relatively annoying. "Sic Parvis Magna," she proceeded, Latin coming from her lips elegantly as she took another sip of water. She watched him curiously wondering if he knew what it meant, but didn't translate. "When the time comes I'm sure your lion qualities will shine through," she offered lastly, eyes floating away from him and back to her unorganized stack of papers.
Sky couldn't help but laugh at Ted when he choked on his water, a small laugh passing by her lips as she smiled at his direction. "Alright there champ?" she asked with an arched eyebrow, waiting for him to regain his composure before finding herself submerged in curiosity once again at his words. It seemed to be a common happening so far, Sky being a very curious creature made Ted interesting. She listened to what he had to say with eager ears, catching on to the fact that he didn't approve of the minister and his laws. That was a relief, but Sky had no intention of letting him know she was a werewolf. That was until he admitted to being a metamorphagus, she smiling brightly at the confession. "What an arse the minister is. But, at lest you get to see your family on your .. Vacation, if you can call it that," she offered before giving some more input on herself. "I'm glad they sent you here. All the other workers love nothing more then to pester the werewolf professor while I'm trying to teach. After class too, while I'm helping other students. It's bloody awful," she spoke, slyly slipping in the fact she was a werewolf without directly having to say 'oh hey I'm a werewolf.'
Shaking her head a bit at the thought of all the other ministry workers Sky was still somewhat relieved that Ted was here. It made her feel more at ease with this entire situation, and it made her feel like she had someone she can rely on. She was the only non-human faculty at the school after all. She was strong for her students, but behind closed doors she was a nervous wreck. "have you ever heard of the muggle Holocaust, Ted?" Sky inquired, eyes lookin away from her papers and back to him. ____________

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ted finished his water, setting his cup down before returning his attention to Sky. She certainly had a way of commanding it. He shrugged at her subtle praise and Latin axiom. "Meh. That's arguable. I mean, if you really think about it, my beginnings weren't all that small. As for me being humble...well I'm not too sure about that either." Which was true. Although his legal guardian was his grandmother growing up, Ted still spent frequent holidays with Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley. and Hermione Granger. That was bigger beginnings than most children had. Even Harry himself. Ted didn't fool himself by thinking that he was just an average wizard. Average in actuality maybe, but he had more than many. He knew that, and he knew it well.
Skyanna's little confession, however artfully slipped, rang in Ted's ears. Werewolf? He certainly didn't see that one coming. Now that he knew though, he extended his senses towards the professor and sure enough, Ted could feel the stirring of energies and primal magic that was the signature of Werewolves. It didn't make him any more weary or suspicious as it might of another Ministry man (gah, that was a sour phrase to think of), after all, his father had dealt with it most of his life. Quite the contrary, Ted was extremely flattered that the lady had told him something so personal after only meeting him moments before. He felt himself begin to relax a little around Miss Pearce, an ease coming over him that he hadn't felt in what seemed like decades.
To his credit, Ted only said aloud, "Sounds horrendous.", with a genuine smile and a nod.
Her next comment though, caused the Auror to give a sharp look. "That is a dangerous thing to be talking about these days, miss Skyanna." Ted leaned a bit forward, reaching into his back pocket, retrieving a dented tin flask, "-And certainly a conversation that warrants something a little stronger than water." He unscrewed the cap, letting a smooth, copper colored Honey Whiskey burn itself down his throat. There was nothing magical about the alcohol, just a simple American Whiskey. He turned and offered the flask to his companion, "Yes. I have heard of it."

the time to hesitate is through, no time to wallow in the mire. try now we can only loose, and our love becomes a funeral pyre. Come on baby light my fire, try to set the night on fire - - - * Ted Lupin was full of surprises.
It isn't everyday that Sky ran into someone else who knew latin. She was a fan of the language, even though it was dead. She was surprised when he responded to her comments like she was speaking regular english. That definitely gave him some browning points with her, even if he could have cared less. She nodded to his words, not really knowing anything aside from basic information from Ted at the moment, so small beginnings seemed like a good argument for her. Still, even if he spent all those ays with the Potters and Weasleys the phrase could be applied different ways. "Well, it doesn't have to necessarily apply to your upbringing. I imagine you had good connections, your father and mother being so closely related to Mr. Potter," she started, not meaning any disrespect in any way shape or form. She offered a warm smile to secure that notion before speaking again. "Don't think of it in the terms of family or people you knew, think of it in terms as being a Gryffindor. From the way you explained yourself I assume you didn't do anything extraordinary in your times at Hogwarts as a Gryffindor - aside from break a few hearts maybe?" she taunted a bit, a small grin coming across her face before she took another sip of her water.
Sky could see that Ted was slightly surprised that she revealed her werewolf status to him. Truth be told she wasn't going to, until she learned he was an metamorphagus. I guess you can say it was a mutual respect kind of thing, Sky herself feeling relatively relieved knowing that information about him. The lest she could do was return the favor. There was something about the man that seemed to catch Sky's attention more than most, and though she couldn't exactly place a finger on it she was sure he would reveal those inner qualities sooner or later. They may suffer from different plights with their magical abilities, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have trust in each other. No one else will really understand the stresses and torments that come with the new laws, they both being directly affected. Sky hasn't met another non-human creature that wasn't a student as of late, so having someone on her .. level is a nice change. She caught his smile, generally happy that he was not judging her for what she was cursed with like many other has, she flashing him her pearly whites in return. "Horrendous doesn't even begin to explain," she murmured, eyes fluttering back down to her stack of papers. Sadly, Sky had a feeling not much was going to get done tonight.
She was slightly surprised at his sharp look, Sky catching it out from her peripherals as he spoke to her once again. He was right, talk of such things was pretty dangerous these days, considering it was basically happening again. She was glad he ha heard of it though, simply for the sake of conversation. Most witches and wizards don't take the time to learn muggle history, even though it truly does reflect a lot of magical world. She smile at his comment for something a little strong, blue eyes watching as he took a sip from his flask. She held out her hand "May I?" she asked, not even feeling the need to grab a cut. Flask was a flask, she probably wasn't going to be drinking much of it, probably nothing more then a sip or two. But he was right, conversation as heavy as the one they were about to engage in would surely need something a little bit rougher then water. "Seems to me the minister could use a history lesson or two on the subject," she started, her british accent purring form her lips as she grabbed herself a roll from the center of the table. "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and with the path he is going down … well, lets just say he'll be killing himself at the end of all this," she continued sighing a bit as she broke apart the bread. "Hogwarts doesn't even seem like a safe place anymore. The ministry is getting closer and closer to us, it's only a matter of time before they invade us like Germany did Poland. Hell, it's already starting with the workers," she shook her head a bit in disgust, tossing a piece of bread into the back of her mouth as her attention was brought back to Ted. "No offense love. You are the only tolerable worker I've met this far." status; FINITE. crappy, but done ;P tags; wonderful ted! notes; I really like these two so far. c:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ted nodded at Sky's continued flattery, deciding not to push the line of duologue any further. Whether or not she intended the comments to be so Ted could already tell that she was stubborn enough not to let him out of the conversation having gained an ground. He only shrugged, and left it at that.
Though her comment about breaking hearts hit Ted's ears like a mallet; strong and clear. His non-chalaunt shrug froze halfway for a heartbeat before finishing its half circle. It was true that Ted was a bit of a introspective prick in his Hogwarts days, he had no misconceptions about that, and he did hurt a few people. Though, it wasn't out of sheer cocky boy-hood carelessness (like James seemed to be majoring in). Ted just wasn't good with relationships, especially close ones. He knew now that it was best to keep his distance, both for his sake and others, but back then...Ted was just trying to fill voids left in his life. Like so many others growing up, Ted took the easy routes, and he paid for it. Mostly in reputation, but that never bothered Lupin all too much. The greatest cost he was beginning to see was the example he had left for James to follow. He blamed himself for James actions, he held himself responsible. Ted remembered why he was at Hogwarts then, and felt another wave of guilt. What was he doing? How could he be here, enjoying a quiet night's company with a beautiful woman when there where things to be done? People to protect and promises to keep? Ted go a small queasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. He tried to quell it with a rather large swig of whiskey, and to his credit, it helped a bit. As Skyanna continued on with their conversation though, Ted brought his thoughts back into the real world, though in the back of his head he told himself not to forget the reasons he was there.
Ted's tone turned distant and somber. "The minister's a weasel sure as the world turns, but he's still a bureaucrat. He wouldn't be doing half of the things that his is if he didn't have backers-people who think the same way and want the same endgame." Ted turned forward, looking to the empty side of the table with a thousand-mile-stare. "The question is, what is his endgame? What does he want?" He shot a side glance to Sky, first taking another shor pull for the flask before offering it again to the lady, "-Or more accurately, what do they want?"

the time to hesitate is through, no time to wallow in the mire. try now we can only loose, and our love becomes a funeral pyre. Come on baby light my fire, try to set the night on fire - - - * Skyanna was generally a hard worker, not easily distracted by the words of another when she had work to do. But even with this stack of papers in front of her Sky couldn't bring herself to concentrate on them. It could have very easily been the lack of food in her tiny figure, but she was suspecting that it had more to do with the company she was holding. She was silently scolding herself for letting a man get the better of her as he was, but it wasn't necessarily in a bad way. It had been a very long time since she had meaningful conversation with anyone and that was something that was of great importance to Sky. Not to mention she can't even remember the last time she had talked to an adult who was a 'non human' creature, someone who understood more than any of the other people she knew about what was happening to her and the fears she was trying so hard to hide and push away. Work could wait for a little while, Sky needed to calm her nerves and Ted Lupin was just the man to help her do that.
Sky nodded briefly ad him, placing another piece f bread in her mouth and swallowing before answering. "You're right. It still amazes me that so many people could feel the same way that he does," she spoke, her voice soft spoken. Her eyes glanced around the great hall for a moment, Sky completely accustom to such an empty sight. She could still imagine all the students filling the seats, she generally only eating with everyone else in the start of the year. She would never miss a sorting ceremony as long as she taught here, even though that time frame was starting to feel like it was getting shorter and shorter. Hell, she might not even be here next year for the sorting ceremony. She sighed a bit, using her finger to push a stray piece of hair from out of her face. "He's good at what he does, I'll give him that. Using people's fears and concerns about people like you and I to gain power and get us out of the picture. Fear is a powerful ally," she said, murmuring a small thanks as she took another sip from his flask. "I wish I knew what they wanted, at lest that way I could be more prepared and help my students be more prepared," she spoke, pausing a bit before continuing. "It's just prejudice. The Minster wants what all prejudice people want, and thats for us to suffer and then eventually be gone. I'm not sure how he is going to accomplish it or what his next move will be but he already made it this far. He's only gaining momentum - not to mention all the attacks on ministry workers aren't helping," she rolled her eyes a bit at the thought, wondering if those people actually thought they were helping the cause. They were only making it worse.
Her eyes fluttered down to her still empty plate, Sky putting a few more pieces of food on her dish - most vegetables and bread - before looking back to Ted. "No hungry, love?" she questioned, tilting her head a bit to the side as she offered him a warm smile. He looked tired, Sky could see it all over his disposition. "If you want to go to sleep and get settled or see your family I wont be offended I assure you," she told him, not wanting to keep the man against his will. status; <3 tags; wonderful ted! notes; crap crap crap ;___;

...and I watched helplessly-- ...as the world round me turned into shades of grey-- As much as Ted wanted to hate that he was enjoying himself and ignoring the reason for his trip to the old caste, he couldn't pry himself out of the great hall, broody conscious be damned. Skyanna was doing an astounding job of keeping him from feeling too guilty about it too. She was a rare woman, and Ted should know. Granted, he was a little rusty in the opposite-sex department, but once-upon-a-time he was quite the heart-breaker. Kinda. He nodded again in agreement to Sky's words, the wight of the real world settling again on his shoulders. Ted would never admit this to himself, but there where nights-like tonight-that he just wanted to disappear. Run way into a dark little hole away from politicians and monsters and all of the things that wanted to hurt him, just run away into that hole and pull it closed behind him. He would never admit it to himself because the second he even acknowledged it he would remind himself of all of the things he had to do. All of the things that he was responsible for, all of the people, all of the problems that would only get worse if he went away. Maybe he was just stubborn, but try as others might-Ted Lupin wasn't going anywhere. Ted's conflict and weary spirit must've showed more than he thought, because Sky asked if he wanted to go get settled. He smiled apologetically, "Sorry, its been a long couple of weeks, but no, I'm fine right here." He gave her a warm, genuine smile, weak as it was. "Though I am starving.", he admitted, gabbing a rather large roll from the same tey that Sky had. He tore into it without any ceremony, trying his best to remain polite, but to be honest, it was hard to accomplish. After a few mouthfuls Ted looked back up at the professor, "Uh...sorry. So...tell me about yourself. I mean, other than being a stunning lycanthrope Ravenclaw professor at Hogwarts."[style=height: 15px; background-color:D1D1D1 ; color: 000000; width: 450px; font-size: 8px; font-family: new century gothic; word-spacing:1px; letter-spacing:1px; text-align: center; text-align: justify; ] poopy post is poopy, but at least its done -_- [/style]

the time to hesitate is through, no time to wallow in the mire. try now we can only loose, and our love becomes a funeral pyre. Come on baby light my fire, try to set the night on fire - - - * Sky was the type of person who was not easily insulted. If ted felt the need to retire for the evening she would not hold it against him, she would have just taken the opportunity to come find him again in the walls of the castle. But upon hearing his words of apologies and manners Sky felt a strange sense of happiness fill within her being. It wasn't an overpowering sensation, but enough to make her realize that she was generally enjoying Ted's company, much more then she was willing to let show. He caught her weak smile, and though she knew he was still tired she was not going to argue his decision to stay and keep her company. She offered him a smile of her own, hers a bit more lively then his, but she had more sleep then he.
She grinned a bit at his comments on being hungry wondering why he hadn't dug in already. Sky had finished her roll not too long ago before he had reached for his. Bright blue eyes fluttering around the table Sky grabbed two plates, she deciding it was time for her to actually eat a meal. Bread wasn't going to sustain her for long, and even though she has given up trying to grade her stack of papers at the moment she would need the energy later in the evening. She handed one plate to Ted, giving him that 'i knew you were hungry' kind of look, before using the fork to fill her plate with an assortment of foods. some vegetables, but for the most part it was all meat. It was because of her more ... primal side, but even before she was bitten Sky always liked meat. Once her plate was full she grinned a bit, placing it down in front of her after hearing Ted's comments shortly after. "No need to apologize love," she said with a small smile.
His next set of comments made Sky look down to her plate, the smile that was resting on her face growing bigger. She was, of course somewhat flattered by his comments but it takes a bit more then that to get her to blush. Naturally, she called him out on such things. "Hmm. It takes a bit more then that to flatter me, Mr. Lupin," she said with a devilish grin, her goblet being placed to her lips as she took a large sip of water. licking her lips after she swallowed, Sky tried to think of the best way to answer his question. She didn't know him well enough to tell him anything too personal, so Sky made sure to pick her words carefully. She shrugged slightly, attention on Ted. "There isn't much more to me really," she said, slightly disappointed with herself for not coming up with a better answer. "I'm not a very interesting person but .. feel free to ask my any question you like," she offered, a game of 21 questions surely seeming like the best solution.
