( words ) 776 ( tags ) you? :3 ( notes ) open and crap-tacular! i've been dreaming of a sleeping world. As of lately Kira had a hard time getting herself getting out of the Gryffindor Common room. The past few months she had literally become something close to a hermit, the seventh year welcoming the months of solitude and easy living. Last year she had literally spent almost every single night out of the common room, not returning until the wee hours of the morning and barely able to make it to her bed. She actually remembers a few times she slipped into someone else's bed by mistake - those were good memories. Well, more embarrassing memories then anything else. Kira grinned at the mere thought, remembering getting yelled at by her fellow sleeping Gryffindors, she occasionally even throwing up next to their bed. One girl was kind enough to at lest take her to the bathroom and hold her hair. Those nights were not missed by little miss Price, and even though she missed being a social butterfly she relaxed that a life lived with a book and one or two good friends was always better then living one with people you couldn't really consider friends.
Tonight was a night of wonder and mischief, Kira feeling the old needs and itches to explore the castle after dark creeping up on her. Tonight was different then majority of the nights she spent out and about in the past, Kira merely looking for a good place to relax and read her book. Had it been last year she would have been looking for a good secluded place to shag up with a guy she barely knew or a good place to get drunk and have a grand old time with a few people. Kira would have just curled up by the Gryffindor fire to read but she was starting to get something close to cabin fever, the girl sick of the same old scenery and routine that she had been living as of late. She needed a change, Kira feeling like she was collecting dust by sitting around in the Gryffindor common room all the time. She basically visited only a few different places as of late - her classes, the great hall, the girls dormitory and the common room. She never ventured out anywhere else which was now starting to become a problem.
So she bundled up nice and warm, wearing a pair of jeans, warm boots, a long sleeve black shirt and a gray light sweater and headed out into the cold atmosphere of the school. She wasn't really sure where she was going, but her tiny feet would lead her to a place of wonder no doubt. Kira had a black book clenched tightly in her hand, her wand in the other as she snuck through the shadows and corridors, looking for a good place to sit her bum down and continue on with her story. She didn't want to find a place that was too dark, considering she was reading a muggle author who could scare her like no other - Steven King. Kira loved horror stories, and though she didn't get scared too often this particular book seemed to appeal to the part of her that still wanted to sleep with the nightlight on. Kira never did well with anything related to aliens, and Dreamcatcher was all about them. So as she wondered the halls absent minded she tried to keep that in mind, a well lit place the best choice for her.
Her feet ended up leading her to the Astronomy tower. She didn't even remember how she got there but once she emerged up top to see the starry night sky she smiled a bit, satisfied. Most certainly not the best place for her to start reading her book again but it seemed Kira didn't mind. She looked up marveled at the sky at first, Kira enjoying the view for a few moments before sitting down on the cold stone, her back leaning up against the edge of the tower as she opened up her book, pushing up her large black glasses when she looked down.

The common room was the last place Tyler could usually be found. It seemed to be a personal goal of the boy's to spend as little time there as possible. He was always off somewhere, whether it be the around the castle or out on the grounds. Having too much energy to not be always moving around, it didn't take much for the Hufflepuff to go stir crazy. He was a constant bundle of enthusiasm and excitement, and slumping around did not suit him. Only when the seventh year slipped into one of his classic bad 'moods' did he keep to himself. Any other instance, Tyler was seeking out the company of anyone he could find and doing something to entertain himself. That was easier said than done. He was rather childish in a lot of ways, finding everything fascinating - but only for about five minutes before he was ready to move onto something else. Even though he was graduating in a couple or months and practically an adult, the badger was really anything but. Was he ready for the real world? Probably not, but Tyler would like to think that the real world was not ready for him instead of the other way around.
After scrambling about the castle, playing a prank or two with one of his buddies, and practically inhaling supper, the Hufflepuff finally resigned to the fact that he should probably take up at least a little bit responsibility and finish his Astronomy assignment. What was the fun in homework, though? He frowned, not exactly keen on the idea and knowing that just about anything else would be better. However, he had to put in a little effort or he would never hear the end of it from his parents. They kept telling him he was seventeen and needed to shape up, and they were most likely right. The boy just wanted to enjoy himself while he could, though. There was no crime in that. He had just settled into one of comfier chairs in the common room when Tyler realized he didn't have his book with him. A quick search through his room and in his bag, it was no where to be found. Letting out a sigh, he didn't feel like retrieving it. Better at keeping track of where his friends were and not his textbooks, it would be a perfect excuse to leave his homework until later.
The combined prospect of his mum's shrieking voice and the professor's when he didn't have his paper made Tyler reconsider that, though. Of course, as soon as he had retired he would have to go back out again. Suddenly feeling very tired, he stood up, throwing his bag onto the chair to claim it so some first year wouldn't be in his spot when he returned. He thought of where the book could possibly be, if one of his friends had borrowed it or if Peeves was ripping the pages out as he spoke. Then the realization came to him - Tyler had simply left it up at the Astronomy Tower after the last night observations. It wasn't his favorite class in the entire world, but he didn't actually mind it. Still, the prospect of having the climb all the way from the dungeons to the top floor was not very appealing. If anyone ever dared tell him he wasn't dedicated to his studies, he wouldn't hesitate to bring up this incident. He was damn dedicated to school, thank you very much. Take that. Even though once he made the effort to go get the stupid book he probably wouldn't end up doing much of his actual assignment... but oh well. That was a whole different matter entirely.
Dragging his feet up the many flights of steps, Tyler finally approached the Astronomy tower. It was later than he had thought, the corridors were chilled and he shivered slightly, planning to simply grab his book and go. That is, if someone else hadn't moved it or taken it or done Merlin knows what. He hoped it wouldn't become that complicated, though... seriously, it was just a book. Traveling the familiar path to the tower, he walked in and took a quick glance around, not that it was much use with the dim light. The Hufflepuff didn't see what he had come for, nor did he see the legs sprawled out and someone sitting up against the wall. Almost stepping on the person, Tyler somehow managed to avoid completely tripping.
"Ah sorry, didn't see you there," he sputtered, looking down. The seventh year managed to spot his own book off in the corner, though, and quickly moved to snatch it up. Glancing back over towards the girl, he recognized her as a Gryffindor in his year, Kira was it? "Odd place to be reading, don't you think?" he questioned, pulling the wand out of his pocket and muttering a quick lumos spell under his breath. It illuminated the area a bit better, though took some of the contrast of the stars away from the dark sky.

( words ) 790 ( tags ) mo with tyler! ( notes ) I'm so happy you dropped in I could poop a rainbow <3 i've been dreaming of a sleeping world. Kira remembers the many nights she spent up reading as a young girl. She shared a room with her sister most of her life, and when she would stay up those countless nights her sister would always scold her for reading in dim light. Kira it's bad for your eyes, always remember to at lest use a book light! If she was with her at the moment she would be saying the same thing, the young Gryffindor reading by nothing but the dim light of the stars. She should have just taken her wand out and used lumos, like any other sensible witch or wizard would have, but she honestly didn't think of it. Not to mention even if she did think of it she probably would have decided against it - with all the patrolling prefects and professors patrolling the halls right now a not-so-normal light in the astronomy tower probably would have sent off a few flags. Sitting in darkness Kira clutched her book with tiny fingers as if the wind was going to take it away.
She was in very deep with the novel right now, her eyes scanning each page at record speed. Kira was always a fast reader and always retained what she read unlike some she knew. With each page turn she could feel herself get more and more submerged in the story, Kira starting to get the feeling of butterflies in her stomach. It was that nervous feeling that came over her any time she read something or participated in something that frightened her. She wasn't a jumpy person but she felt like someone was watching her, or like something was going to come snatch her up any minute and take her to a mother ship. Or something along those lines - hopefully something a little less brutal then what happens to the characters in this book. The muggleborn bit her bottom lip as she turned the page, completely submerge in the imagery that was being projected to her right now. She could imagine every detail in her mind and it was playing like a movie, which only made the concept of aliens a bit more real and terrifying for the girl with that active imagination of hers.
When Tyler Daniel Jordan entered the Astronomy tower it went unnoticed for Kira, at lest at first. She was way too deep in her own little world to notice him enter, but the minute she felt him basically trip over her legs she screamed out of terror, her book being thrown from her hands and onto the floor next to her. She clutched her chest with her hand shortly after, letting out one laugh, then a few more, then even more. Kind of like a slow clap, only with laughs. She smiled, feeling apologetic and concerned for the person she nearly killed with her ill-placed self. The worst part of it was she was unsure if it was a boy or a girl, or if it was someone that would get her in trouble for being out so late. The last thing she needed was to get more points taken from Gryffindor, she seemed to do that a lot over the past few years here. But once he spoke an even worse realization came to Kira's mind as she reached for her book. Is this someone I have slept with? was always the first thought that came to mind when Kira was approached by a male she didn't know, and she hated that fact about herself. Even when she can see the person she sometimes finds herself asking that question, given the fact she has had many drunken encounters with the boys of this school and just couldn't recall.
When the light of his wand came she shut her eyes and batted them slightly, her pupils adjusting to the sudden addition of light. She pushed her glasses up, they almost falling off when she was startled before she actually spoke. "No its alright, it's my fault," she said, her voice soft and almost mouse like. She looked down at her legs before curling them into herself and adjusting the way she was sitting so she was sitting indian style. "Sorry," she murmured almost like it was to herself and not him. Once her eyes adjust to the light they fell upon Tyler, Kira smiling at the fact she had not slept with him before. At least not that she could recall. She did recognize him though - maybe from classes? Kira recognized him so much so that she could even recall his name. "Tyler, right?" she asked sheepishly, wiggling her way over to the side so she wasn't so in the way of oncoming traffic.
