it was raining. it was pouring. raining and pouring buckets outside. why was it pouring buckets outside though? why today? he'd been so keen on going out to practice a little quidditch... although that was a bit of a lie, he'd mostly just wanted to go out and fly around on his broom for a while. blaise was incredibly mad with himself. while the hufflepuff team was doing well, great even, he felt like such a loser of a captain. he wasn't doing enough, he wasn't working hard enough. sometimes he wondered if he should just give the damn title up to madge beckett who seemed to be like an animal of the pitch during a game, and always seemed to have control of not only the whole damn game but also the opposite team who constantly seemed to cower in her presence. and then there was blaise, mister insecure of the year. blaise longbottom with the shaggy brown hair and the dorky glasses aside from the days when he put on contacts of course. but those bugged him sometimes so half the time he just stuck with his glasses. he hated his father for this, mostly. and his mother. both had their insecurities and unlike science or math or whatever when two come together, apparently for blaise they didn't cancel one another out. they probably just got stronger if anything.
generally blaise didn't show many people his insecurities, not even to his own twin brother who was closer than closer could be. his brother had a stutter, which sometimes concerned blaise though most of the time he forgot about it since it was something he'd been growing used to. but blaise felt protective over him, as many brothers do, and thought that perhaps by showing his own insecurities it'd make rory's stutter get even worse. this would probably be untrue and was mostly just another excuse for blaise to keep his insecurities to himself, but even still, one never knew. of course he had more insecurities than just his eyes. his eyes overall were actually something he was proud of, mostly for their color. he just had a problem with the glasses. aside from the glasses and aside from the whole captain of the hufflepuff quidditch team thing, he was constantly checking his build. he liked having a somewhat mild-strong look to him, while still staying lean but not being as thing as an anorexic model. it took a lot to keep up this appearance but at least it kept him in shape for the most part. he knew very well that as soon as he stopped exercising he'd end up with a muffin-top.
finally, after much debate, blaise decided to brave the freezing cold rain. grabbing a rain jacket which probably wouldn't help much as well as his broom, he headed outside. the rain came sloshing down relentlessly as the longbottom attempted to put his hood up over his head and sprinted towards the pitch. the faster he got to the pitch and onto his broom, the faster he'd be warm and then the rain would just be a small annoyance. finally reaching the empty, soggy pitch, he climbed onto his broom and whizzed into the air, happy to be in the air but not so happy to feel like he was going to get wind whip from the cold air. diving around in the air on the broom wasn't really a big exercise, especially when doing it for fun, and so it didn't usually get blaise very warm right away. but it was the adrenaline rush he got when he lifted off and when he did some sort of a dive around the pitch. that was what warmed him up the most. he loved the thrill of being in the air as though he had wings, and most of the time found it hard to get off his broom afterwards. only about five minutes later did he realize his hood had come off and his hair would soon be a tangled mess of cold, stringy brown stuff. though at this moment he could really care less.

go slowly slowly down
Been thinking little thoughts Keep on walking try to stay up Pay Attention to the details ,
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 420px; height: 300px; background-image: url(http://i39.tinypic.com/x5xox5.jpg);] Rory loved the rain. He loved the smell of it. The atmosphere. It made everything smell so fresh and clean. The sound of it hitting the castle windows was soothing, especially when it was late at night. He loved falling asleep to the symphony of a storm. Falling asleep to thunder and lightning and howling wind always left him with pleasant dreams and a refreshed feeling in the morning. Currently it was pouring rain, Rory curled up on the windowsill of his dorm watching the rain shower over his view of the castle grounds. The window was soaked with little water droplets that made patterns on the glass, stripes and pathways lading to imaginary lands that existed only in his head. He needed this. He needed some time to just sit and think and relax. Everything had been so hectic lately. Everything was so busy and bustling. He was so busy trying to make sure Ambrosia was okay and sleeping well. She was so stressed about Quidditch and school and the ministry’s changes. He wanted to be able to keep her sane and healthy.
But he also had Blaise to worry about. He knew his brother didn’t like talking much about his insecurities and worries, but Rory liked to hear them. After all, Blaise was his brother. Not just his brother but his twin brother. Blaise mattered to him most in this world. Above Ambrosia. Above himself. He meant everything to Rory. If there was something on his brother’s mind he wanted to be able to help. He wanted to try and fix it, or at least pose as a distraction from whatever was wrong. Give him a temporary piece of mind. But just as Blaise didn’t want to burden Rory with his problems, Rory didn’t want to burden Blaise either. He felt like his insecurities and worries were petty. Being insecure about his stutter was stupid, especially since he knew it wasn’t going to go away. Being insecure about how he looked was stupid since he couldn’t change that either. He didn’t want to burden Blaise any more than Blaise wanted to burden him, but there was a lot on Rory’s mind. A lot he needed to just voice. No advice. No comfort. He just needed it out in the open.
He rose from his perch on the windowsill and grabbed his rain jacket and boots, an overwhelming urge to go play in the rain forcing him off of his feet. He would probably end up getting a cold from this but whatever. He could deal with that later. For now he let his feet and the rain carry him about, making his way toward the Quidditch pitch like some invisible force was taking him there. Through the rain he could see someone up in he air, the thought of being that high making his stomach twist and turn. He would just wait for Blaise to come down rather than call out, sitting on one of the stands and huddling into a ball for the time being.

There were days that sucked.
And there were days that sucked more. That was today. And to top it off it wasn't like she could go out to her favorite place outside and go read and study in peace while people passed her by like they always did as if she was invisible. Most would think Avalon Remmington would stand out with her vibrant red hair, blue eyes, and the way that she always had a warm smile for everyone though no one ever seemed to really give her much mind. Maybe it was the shyness. Maybe it was just that at fitst she was so awkward that she didn't know what else to do but be herself. She couldn't feign confidence, that was something you either had or you didn't. And to pretend it was so, just wasn't the way she was. She had been told that if you pretend long enough it would just happen. This was not something Avalon was interested in.
She was who she was.
Avalon looked forlornly out the windows of the school at the pouring rain and just wishing that she could be out there. Inside, there were cliches everywhere. People were constantly talking in their little huddles. Laughing, giggling, playing games. There were card games, and chess games, and all kinds of activities going on. The Professors were even more on alert today since all the students were cooped up indoors there was likely to be more mischeif than normal. Avalon just wanted to escape. She wanted to go somewhere that wasn't a constant reminder that she so didn't fit in here. Her parents had told her that every wizard fits in. She was a pure blood and she should be proud of it. But that wasn't the case, she was proud of her heritage, but she wasn't really the kind that thought herself better than those that were not fully pure blood.
The Ravenclaw sighed and decided that it was better to get cold and wet than to sit here and wish that someone would say 'hey Avalon come with us!' Because she'd catch her death outside before that would ever happen. She grabbed her rain poncho and pulled it down over her body. She had left her book bag upstairs in the dorm so she wouldn't have to worry about where to put it. So she headed out into the rain. Her head bent against the rain. She swore she had seen someone flying around on the Quidditch field. Avalon wasnt any good at the game herself, but she loved to watch, it was really the only sport that she followed so she figured that she could at least go sit in the stands and watched.
When she reached the mud and wet grass strewn field she looked up rain slashing her in the face as she did so to see a couple people flying around on the quidditch field. Avalon didn't try to gain any attention herself, but she climbed up into the nearest stand, that happened to be Hufflepuff and she sat down on the front most bench to watch the people flying around. How freeing that must be! She was okay at flying but she would never be like these two. The way they moved was smoothely, she didn't recognize any of them in the rain, and probably wouldn't have recognized them without it because she didn't get around much. But she figured they wouldn't mind her watching.
((Hey boys, hope you don't mind me joining, it didn't seem like a closed thread soooooo.... I jumped in. If it's a problem PM me and I'll change it :)))
