Persephone tightened the waistband around her wool coat and walked down the street of Diagon Alley. It was a rather chilly day, but it was an important day. It was her first day of work at Ollivanders Wand Shoppe, and she needed to be there no matter how cold it was. She was going to (hopefully) be taught everything she needed to know about wand making, and she wanted to do it well. When Persephone Zabini did anything, she did it well… no questions asked. She wasn’t one to do things to get them done, she did things so that they were better than everyone else’s. And while wand making definitely wasn’t her passion, it seemed as though it would be a fun hobby. It would give her time to take her mind off of all of the stupid stuff going on at the school with Devent, most importantly. She had been spending all of her time either moping around or studying, and she just wanted a break. And while working at Ollivanders was still a job, she really enjoyed Charles. He was a nice guy, and she truly enjoyed his company. She was certain that he could cheer her up somehow… heck, he could cheer her up just by being in the same room as her.
Did she like Charles? That she didn’t know. He was 6 years older than her… but Persephone had always had a thing for older men. They didn’t bullshit you or change their minds as much as the boys in school, which Persephone really appreciated considering all of the craziness going on with Devent. She threw her scarf around her neck and pulled the door open the store, still shivering once she made it inside. She went and leaned up against the front desk, then yelled, ”Charles? Are you there?” She went and hung up her coat and scarf on the coat rack, then put her hair up in a high ponytail. She was ready for whatever this job was going to bring… even if it wasn’t what she always wanted for herself.

flightless birdnow i’m a fat house cat. nursing my sore, blunt tongue. watching the warm poison rats crawl through the wide fence cracks. pissing on magazine photos. those fishing lures thrown in the cold and clean blood of christ mountain stream. The quick rasp of a beak on his window woke Charles D'eath up for another day. With a yawn, he slide out of his bed and walked over to retrieve the latest Daily Prophet paper. After he took the newsletter from the bird he was in mid process of closing his window when the owl screeched at him and held out it's leg that had a small bag tied around it. "Right, sorry about that." Charles snatched up a few sickles that were laying on his nightstand and dropped them in the bag. With that, the owl flew off and he locked up his window. The newspaper was tossed onto his bed as he went to get ready for work. Whenever there was no customers or if he had some spare time, the newsletter would serve it's purpose.
That was a benefit of working in a wand shop. The only time of the year Ollivanders was constantly busy was during the end of the summer. Around the time first years were getting their first wands. The rest of the year was mostly repairs, wandcrafting, and selling when someone broke their own. Simple job that left much free time. Once he was fully dressed, Charlie gathered his belongings and made his way out the door. As soon as he closed and locked the door to his flat, he was gone with a loud crack. Within seconds, he apparated into the busy streets of Diagon Alley. There was a definite chill in the air that morning, just cold enough for him to feel it. Which was one of the benefits of being a half vampire and half human, you could feel the cold winter weather, but you hardly took the full brunt of it.
Cold weather never really effected his vampire brethren, but it did his human side. Charles was glad to enjoy both experiences when he could. The touch of the winter wind made him feel more human than it did a monster. Charles reached Ollivander's and unlocked the door. Once inside he pulled out his wand and gave it a wave. The lights flickered on making the shop well-lighted. Looking around the shop he noticed that there was a nice layer of dust on most of the table. That is what he got when he took his days of, the others didn't clean. "Tergeo!" As his spell went to work, Charlie headed to the back room to prepare for the day. Not much later, the bell above the door chimed, and with it a voice as well. Someone was calling out for him. The half-vampire put on a cheery smile and peaked into the main room to see who it was. "Persephone! Glad to see you got the job! Come on over." He made his way to the desk to greet her. "Are you ready for shop-keeping one 'o one?" 479, persephone, :3 |

True, Persephone didn’t know Charles d’Eath too well… but that didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy his company! He was a funny guy… and he was ridiculously sweet. And good looking. But Persephone needed to get that out of her mind. Her life was too hectic for any sort of romantic interest. Besides, surely a guy like him wouldn’t want to date a student! But for whatever reason, Perse couldn’t ever shake the idea from her mind. His potential, so to say, was difficult for her to get over. Guys rarely ever fit her criteria. She was done messing with boys like Carson and Devent, she wanted a man, as clichéd as that may sound. But she managed to compose herself… she didn’t want her new coworker to know about her crush that was slowly (but surely) starting to form. That would make for some awkward shifts!
She leaned up against the counter, looking around the room as she waited for him to arrive. As he walked in the room, Persephone tried her best to keep her poise. She could not have a crush on someone. Not this close to NEWTS. And especially not a guy who was 5 years older than her. She needed to focus her time on studying, not obsessing over a guy who probably couldn’t care less about her. She smiled at him- a friendly smile, not an oh-my-gosh-why-are-you-so-hot type of smile. She tried to act as casual as humanly possible. She wasn’t used to feeling this way about a person, and she was trying desperately to make it stop.
And then he smiled at her. Ugh. Why did he have to make it so difficult?
“Definitely! I can’t wait,” she said with a smile, before realizing she probably sounded much too eager. She bit her lip and looked away awkwardly.
[OCC: I’m a bitch for making you wait 10 days. Please forgive me. Because I love you/Charlie too much.]
