IF I HAD IT MY WAY I'D SLIT YOUR THROAT WITH ( THE KNIFE THAT YOU LEFT IN MY BACK )Snatcher.
The very term was enough to make Skyanna Pearce scowl, it bringing nothing. It fowl thoughts into the werewolf's mind. Sky had no respect, no sympathy and no understanding of anyone who took up the title, she viewing them as nothing more then ministry dogs. They were doing the dirty work, turning in people who are cursed and forlorn for a quick buck. In all honesty it disgusted her, Sky herself having yet to run into a "den snatcher" as they were called for werewolves. She assumed it was her position at Hogwarts that kept her safe this far, but she knew it was only a matter of time before they came for her too.
It was a Saturday afternoon, Skyanna pondering the many radical and awful changes in Ministry laws as she walked the streets of hogsmeade. Today was one of the many trips out of the year when students come to this village, Sky often accompanying the students to get out of the castle. Hogsmeade was probably the only other place aside from the school that she felt even remotely safe from snatchers or other ministry workers, which made her a frequent visitor. Though, truth be told she had other motives today. Sky was to be meeting up with a good friend of hers from school, one of which she hadnt seen in a while. After today she had no intentions of seeing her again, considering Nora had recently taken up the title of curour snatcher. Nora may not be hunting Sky directly, but it was for the better that she never speak with her friend. The fact she would even partake in such barbaric activities made the Ravenclaw furious, Sky sighing in disappointment as she entered Madame Puddifoot's tea polar.
Though the tea polar was generally used for students on dates, the chilly weather caused for Sky to ask Nora to meet her here instead of anywhere else. Once she entered the main room Sky reminisced over dates she had been to here, the tackey and tasteless décor almost refreshing. The windows were fogged up naturally, Sky catching the eyes of some student couples who relaxed a bit on the PDA when she entered. Making her way to the back of the main room Sky purposely picked the most secluded table for this encounter. Picking the seat with her back to the wall Sky had a good view of everyone who entered. She hated having her back to the door, you never know who was going to come up behind you. Peeling her long black jacket off her thin figure Sky draped it over the backrest of her chair before taking a seat. Ordering herself some herbal tea she awaited it's arrival as well as Nora's, hoping her owl made it to her a few days ago.

It had been quite the surprise to have an owl show up, tapping the glass of Nora's apartment window impatiently as it waited to get in from the cold. Mail usually wasn't something that frequented her place, so the arrival of a note had intrigued the blonde. She had read over the words quickly, giving the owl a few table scraps before sending it back on its way. It was from Skyanna, Skyanna Pearce of all people. As far as friends from her school days went, Sky was one of her closer ones, though the woman hadn't spoken to her in what seemed like ages. They both had taken their separate paths, careers and interests leading them different ways. Unfortunately the two had drifted apart lately, so hearing from her fellow Ravenclaw was a pleasant surprise. Quickly accepting the invitation to tea, it would hopefully be a good time to catch up.
As Skyanna had been busy with her teaching position at Hogwarts, Nora too had her fair share of things going on as of late. She had left the clerk job in Knockturn Alley and instead taken up work as a snatcher. People seemed to cower in fear or sneer in disgust when they heard the word, but not her. In fact, she swelled with a bit of pride. The job was an interesting one, that was for sure. Vampires were dangerous, which went hand in hand with interesting for Nora. As far as she was concerned, she was protecting people and not doing anything wrong. In her opinion they were beasts and needed to be contained. Plus, the pay was decent, the Ravenclaw had to admit. She saw no reason why not to become a snatcher, really. It was while she was back in town from a search with her troop that she had received the owl. Glad to have some time off for a meeting, the blonde apparated to Hogsmeade a few minutes before the scheduled time.
Stepping into the snowy village made her reminisce of her own time at Hogwarts, though usually Nora's trips were spent exploring the Shrieking Shack rather than shopping with friends or grabbing a butter beer. She never had been normal. Skyanna had arranged for them to meet up at Madame Puddifoot's. The decor was a little pink and frilly for her own tastes, but they did have a good cup of tea there. The place really didn't matter, it was just being able to see an old friend that she was looking forward to. Finding the entrance, she quietly stepped through the door, taking in the sight of the occupants. A quick scan of the area was all she needed to find Sky, who had chosen a table near the back. Putting a hand up in greeting, Nora shuffled along until coming to stop at her seat.
"Sky, how are you?" Nora asked with a grin, taking a seat across from the other woman. "It feels like it's been forever. Not technically forever, because no one's been alive long enough to even experience that or measure what 'forever' really is or any of that. But you know what I mean." Nora sure hadn't changed after all these years since graduation, not one bit.

BEFORE I WOULD HAVE SWORN THAT WE WERE FRIENDS. THIS PROBLEM ( POINTS TOWARDS SOME LARGER TREND )No matter how many times you play something through your head it never goes the way you expect it to. You could think out ever possibility, ever phrase that could be said so you are prepared and not caught off guard, making yourself look like a git. Sky normally never had to partake in such activities, simply because she was such a quick thinker she could normally come up with a response or solution quickly. But today was a different situation, the young professor going through everything she was going to say to Nora when she got here, how she was going to bring up her being a snatcher and how she was going to keep this short and simple. Sky had other important things to do rather then sit here and bicker in public with a snatcher who could just drag her in, even if she wasn't a den snatcher. Sky sighed a bit, dreading what was coming as her tea arrived to her table, she fixing it with cream and sugar before letting the warm liquid enter her body.
The moment Nora entered Sky had already had her eyes glued to the door, the sound of the bell louder for her then for anyone else because of what she was. She could smell Nora from a mile away, she having a very .. distinguished scent, but not a bad one. Sky lowered her tea cup when she watcher her way and then proceed to approach her, the Ravenclaw grinning a bit at the sight of her old friend. At that moment everything Sky had planed to say and do went out the window, she just glad to see that Nora was in good health and seemed unchanging since school. Sky hated to appear weak to anyone, but she will always have a soft spot for Nora, no matter what team they are playing for. She considered this bond a weakness, the Ravenclaw knowing that it could eventually be used against her. It had to be the whole 'close childhood friends' thing they had going on, Sky remembering a lot of memories and adolescents trails that they conquered together, but most importantly the summer she got bit, the summer that everything changed Nora was still around. When some people found out she was shunned for the most part, her brother spreading the horrible truth throughout the student body to keep people from approaching her with kindness, or even just respecting her privacy. But Nora stuck by her side, she being one of the only people she really opened up to about it, telling her the truth about how her family never loved her, but not had an excuse to disown her. It was that fact that was going to make this so difficult.
The thoughts rushing through Sky's head were stopped when Nora greeted her, she watching as she took the seat opposite her. "It's good to se you Nora," she offered with a smile, that being nothing but the truth. Despite the false pretenses that she was putting up Sky still wanted to catch up with an old friend before getting down to the nitty gritty. She let out a small laugh at her rambling, noting that she hasn't changed at all since school. "I know. As you can imagine things have been a little hectic for me. I don't really get out of the castle anymore with all these new laws," she admitted, taking another sip of her warm tea. She licked her lips after soothing her thirst before speaking again. "Otherwise I would have visited you in Knockturn Alley - unless that isn't your cup of tea anymore?" she asked with a small grin, amused at her own pun. She knew Nora would catch it, she normally caught onto Sky's humor quickly. Slyly Sky tried to see if she could get Nora to admit to being a snatcher without having to come right out and say it herself, she dancing around the idea with each sentence she spoke. But as stated before, she was going to hold off on the hostile confrontation for the moment, she didn't want to ruin her good cup of tea. Not to mention it had been such a long time since Sky has seen Nora, this catching up chat was well overdue.

It was odd, how much Nora was looking forward to this. Social interaction wasn't on the top ten list of things she loved. She wasn't exactly a people person by any means, scaring most off one way or another. It honestly didn't bother her much, the blonde rather enjoyed her solitude and the found the company of a good book much better than people the majority of the time. But between work and travel and the assortment of other things going on in her life at the moment, the Ravenclaw found herself longing for the company of one of her few remaining friends. The owl from Skyanna couldn't have arrived at a better time, so it was with a strange amount of enthusiasm that she had headed off to Hogsmeade that afternoon.
Nora thought about Sky with a certain sort of fondness, the type that was uncommon for her to feel for things other than sharp objects. Perhaps it was just the fact that they had known each other for so long, or balanced each other out well, or something equally sappy and profound. It had been years now that she had known about Skyanna's true nature. Instead of turning away like so many others had, it just made the woman all that more interesting to the blonde. The conflict with her work had certainly crossed her mind, but Nora didn't think much of it. Sky was clearly civilized and trusted enough to become a professor -- and hopefully intelligent enough to register with the Ministry instead of going on the run. Plus the snatcher belonged to a different group entirely than what dealt with werewolves. There was nothing to be concerned about, was there? That's what Nora was telling herself, though it couldn't possibly be true.
Ignorant of what was undoubtedly to come of this meeting, the blonde entered the shop expecting nothing more than a chat and a good cup of tea. It was quickly that she spotted Skyanna and went to the table and took a seat, smiling back at her friend. It really was good to see her, Nora hadn't realized just how long it had been until that moment. "Of course, busy busy miss head of Ravenclaw yourself," she replied with a small grin. A professor was a respectable a career, and she was happy for Sky. She was doing well for herself. But then came the mention of the new laws... Nora had to of expecting it, but she still didn't know quite how to reply. Perhaps thinking up some probable responses beforehand would have been beneficial, but she had always been a spur of the moment type. "Mmm, yes," Nora said, bringing the tea cup up to her lips. "They do pose a few restrictions. For the general welfare of course..." She trailed off, taking another sip of her tea and leaving the sentence unfinished. Probably for the best at this moment in time.
Nora smirked at Sky's words, her cup of tea indeed. "I still get around those parts," she replied, thinking of her occasional stops in Knockturn Alley. Though now that she wasn't working there it was much less often."Though not as frequently these days. I've been out of town a lot lately." She didn't directly come and say it. Nora may be blunt at times, but she was not stupid. Maybe just getting it out and over with would be the least painful, but for now she would play it cool. Why ruin it yet?

I dont want to talk to you anymore, im afraid of what I might say. I bite my tongue every time you come around - theirs blood in my mouth bitch, lord don't fuck around. For a moment, Sky had almost forgotten the nature of this tea date. She was content with the company she was holding, even if, in a sense, they were enemies. Sipping on her tea Sky could merely smirk at her Head of Ravenclaw comment, letting the warm liquid fill her bones before actually replying. "Ha. Never dreamed I would be holding that position in a million years, especially when we were at school," she offered with a small grin. Sky generally had a problem with authority figures, so back in school she bashed with the head of house a lot - hell, she clashed with almost all the professors because of her need to ask questions, challenge them on their own turf. But now here she was, sitting at the top of the food chain at school, only underneath the headmaster an equal to three others. Which, in her opinion was really only two because Alistair was a tool anyways.
Nora's next comment reminded Sky exactly why she was here. Hands laced gracefully around her teacup she still didn't bring up the lack of friendship they were both going to be experiencing when this is all said and down, but she was more interested to hear Nora's point of view on the situation. Sky always loved to pick the brains of people she respected, not to mention debating over such serious topics was a past time she enjoyed very much. But the most interest for sky rested within the motives. What exactly people like the minister, Nora, and the other snatchers thought about what they were doing, why it was ok. Sky shook her head a bit, disagreeing with her statement. "I can't agree with you there, though my opinion is bias. Being a werewolf isn't a choice or a weapon, it's a disease. And a very painful one at that. We're being punished for something we did not choose to have," Sky finished, taking another sip of her slightly chilled, but still warm tea.
She was glad to see Nora catch her pun, watching the woman as she smirked behind her tea cup. "Creature of habits we are. Whenever I get the chance I will always find myself heading to Honeydukes," she laughed a bit. "Risk my safety for a piece of candy," she grinned a bit, Honeydukes being one place that Sky has loved ever since the first time she went there. She was a fan of candy, and she would be damned if anyone was going to keep it from her. The Hogsmeade trips were always the perfect opportunity for her to get her fill, she attending most of the time or she would just send a student with some money to pick it up for her. It all depended on the situation. "Out of town?" Sky questioned, crossing her ankles under the table. She new damn well why Nora had been out of town so much, but played if off like she was unaware. One thing was for sure, Sky knew what she was doing at the moment, she waiting for the precise opportunity to bring up her new found snatcher status. She would have to do it soon, for the more she sat and spoke with Nora the harder it was getting to end their friendship.

She took a long drink of her tea, hanging on every word that Skyanna spoke. It had taken much too long for them to meet up again, and now that she had, Nora realized just how much she had missed the other woman's company. She usually wasn't much for people and was too stubborn to admit she needed anyone, but being back with her friend was something the blonde was enjoying. She laughed when Sky said she'd never have thought of that when they were in school. A lot of things had changed since then, that was for sure. Thinking of it brought back fond memories of their own days at Hogwarts, staying up in the common room or going to quidditch games. It was a shame those good times would be clouded by whatever fight was inevitably to come from this.
And so it began. Nora was a little disappointed that they had barely even begun their conversation before word of the new laws came up. The decrees were a sensitive issue, it seemed. People either supported them or absolutely hated anyone who did. Staying neutral was becoming increasingly more difficult in these times, and it was quite obvious to see what side Skyanna belonged to. It didn't take much to figure that one out. The snatcher bit her lip to refrain from saying anything she was regret and took a sip of her tea to buy her a bit of time to formulate a response. "No, not a choice to have it," she said quietly, choosing her words carefully. Not that it would make much of a difference in the end. "But it's a choice to use it against innocent people." The Minister wasn't doing this just because he felt like locking people up. It was for the good of society, for those who got attacked every year by creatures. Yet he was always painted as the bad guy. Nora could see the other side of the argument, but that didn't mean she had to agree with it. Sky wasn't like most of them, she could handle and control herself, but the same couldn't be said for others.
Their conversation turned to a lighter note, but there was still the hint of argument behind each of their voices. "Honeydukes, yes. You always did like your sweets," Nora said with a small smile. It would be just like Sky to only get out of the castle for a piece of candy, and the thought made her grin to herself. Focusing in once the Ravenclaw spoke again, the blonde nodded slowly. "Yes, out of town," she replied. How innocently the question was raised, like her friend wondered if she had been on holiday or something. But Nora knew better than that. If there was one thing Sky wasn't, it was stupid. She knew perfectly well what was going on, if the snatcher had to bet. "Don't play dumb, Skyanna," Nora said quietly, taking a long drink of her tea and starting at the woman.

I dont want to talk to you anymore, im afraid of what I might say. I bite my tongue every time you come around - theirs blood in my mouth bitch, lord don't fuck around. Words are so trivial. They turn such a simple meeting, a simple cup of tea between friends into a tense showdown of opinions and opposing sides. Sky, at first, understood the Minister's point son the non magical creatures. She wasn't completely oppose to them either, but he took it too far. He was looking at all of them like they were monsters, punishing them for the mistakes made by those who couldn't handle the pressure or transformation. Majority of the non-human population was controlled and understanding of the hand they were dealt, being responsible for their actions and the well being of others. She noticed Nora start to choose her words carefully, Sky knowing that things were only going to get worse from here. She wasn't looking forward to it, but it was enviable, and she was aware of this the moment she sent Nora the owl.
Sky took another sip of her tea before placing the cup back down, sighing a bit at Nora's comments. "You sound just like those ministry workers at the school," she said, disappointed. She knew Nora did what she pleased and generally didn't care about people, which made her knew found job an easy one for her. "It's like he's making a stereotype. He's punishing all of us for the mistakes of a handful of creatures. Nora, I'm going to loose my job. Do you have any idea how long it took for me to find a place of employment to look at me as a hard working woman rather then a werewolf?" she asked, shaking her head a bit in concern for the words she just said. As much as she was trying to argue a point she was confiding in Nora her own concerns about these laws. She was first and foremost her friend, and though Sky never liked to appear weak with Nora it was somehow acceptable in her mind. but only because it was Nora. "I just .. I understand what he is trying to do. But he's going about it the complete wrong way," was her final mention of the subject, sipping on her tea some more before she talked about it even more.
She grinned a bit at Nora's comments, but didn't say anything until her last four words. Four bloody, articulated words that struck a chord with Sky. She should have known she couldn't play stupid with Nora for long, she was always able to see through those kind of petty tricks. She really wanted to keep off that topic for as long as she could muster, but it seemed that it came about sooner then anticipated. Sky didn't say anything hostile, she didn't verbally assault her in any way shape or form, but continued on the conversation like normal. "So. Cruor snatcher - when did you start?" she asked, finally speaking of the topic that was lingering over this entire conversation. "I may not approve, but I'd like to at lest know how you like it before this gets .. uncomfortable," she mused, sipping on her tea while she surveyed Nora over her tea cup.

Was she being hypocritical? Skyanna was probably the closest thing she had to a best friend at the moment -- well, maybe even ever. Was becoming a snatcher like a stab to the back? The blonde was a cruor snatcher, a different category entirely she reminded herself. She wasn't going after people like Sky, those who registered and complied and weren't a threat. Nora was searching for creatures that posed a danger. She couldn't think of Skyanna in that way, but then again she had never truly seen her at her angriest. The woman wasn't ignorant as to what werewolves were capable of, really the opposite, but trying to picture the friend sitting across from her as anything but the Ravenclaw she had always known was difficult. Nora shook her head slightly, trying not to have any second thoughts. She wasn't one for regrets. What was done was done, and unfortunately that just might be coming between the two of them. It was unavoidable, now that she pondered it a moment, but it didn't make it any better for either of them.
The woman swallowed hard, trying to look at Skyanna unbiased and have a... civil conversation about all this. It probably wasn't going to work so well. Sky certainly wouldn't hesitate to stand up for herself, and though she wasn't characteristically angry, Nora could snap in a split second if the right situation arose. One seemed to be rising at the moment. "I respect that," the blonde said with a small nod, staring at her. Sky was a damn good teacher, she was sure, and had worked hard to get there. "But you'll find something else. It's just for the good of the students," the snatcher said quietly. You could never been too safe, could you? Nora was trying to stay open to the ideas, but she would defend her own beliefs. People took her for a pushover just because of her oddness, and she would quick to prove that wrong.
It was with a few short words that the nonsense was cut out of their conversation. The innocent pretending was done for the both of them. Nora wouldn't lie, she would have liked to caught up and talked to Sky about trivial topics, fun things. Thestrals, pie, the weather, art museums, simple things like that. But while this single issue divided them, none of that could be done with any real meaning involved. The woman pursed her lips in an exaggerated fashion. So this was how it was going to go.
"About a month ago," Nora replied simply. She remembered the day she had signed up clearly, gotten the bit of training from the head snatcher and then it was off. There were no technicalities and she didn't have to tread carefully to avoid anyone's toes. She just did the job that was required of her and learned a bit in the process, from information on creatures to dueling techniques. She smirked a bit at Skyanna's next words. "I think it's a little bit too late in the game to salvage 'comfortable'." Comfortable was about the last thing this was and there was no use pretending it wasn't. "I suppose I can appreciate the effort, though," Nora said with a small shrug. "It's - good, for me. I've learned a lot." That was about the most she could say on the topic without completely ticking off Sky. "I'm sure I already know how you feel."

I dont want to talk to you anymore, im afraid of what I might say. I bite my tongue every time you come around - theirs blood in my mouth bitch, lord don't fuck around. It was kind of hard for Sky to keep an open mind and her temper down in conversations such as these. Whenever it came to snatchers or the new ministry laws Sky always had a bold opinion and wasn't afraid to express it. But with Nora it was different. Sky wasn't use to tip-toeing over words and phrases that she really wanted to say. Though she always thought before she spoke, she generally never actually gave a crap about the things she said, which made her come off as rude and callous. Nora understood these qualities about her, but Sky still tried not to lash out at the woman for her choice in work. Sky felt betrayed, but she wasn't going to let any sign of weakness show. She hated appearing weak, especially in confrontations such as these. Not to mention the wrong word choice could send Nora over the edge, anger something that Sky has only barely seen from her. Sky generally kept her own anger under control because of what she was, but she couldn't guarantee that it would remain that way for long.
Nora's words were soft spoken and quiet, Sky almost letting out a low grumble. "Please. Don't feed me that 'its for the good of the students' rubbish. You sound like the minister," Sky growled, her fingers tapping lightly on the table in front of them. She took a deep breath, shutting her eyes for a moment as she calmed herself, not wanting to lash out at Nora. She cleared her throat, opening those bright blue eyes of hers and looking to Nora again. She wasn't going to apologize openly, but it was obvious in her appearance that she didn't mean to lash out as she did with her previous comments. "I'll never fin another job. Not with all these new laws. The only option is the camps, and what kind of sad existence is that? Majority of the people I know aren't like me or the people you hunt. I wouldn't subject them to entering such a place," she spoke, her words somewhat soft and delicate. She was calm, not like she was a few moments ago. "I can understand wanting to protect the students, but as the only non-human staff member at that school I am an immediate target when I've never put any of them in any danger. I'd sooner hurt myself then let that happen," she admitted, almost murmuring into her teacup as she did so, taking another sip.
Sky only nodded when she heard how long ago Nora started, Sky grinning slightly at her next few comments. "Well, you are still one of my closest friends. I didn't want to ambush you before I got to know how you are doing," she spoke, offering a small warm smile. Sky will always have some kind of spot for Nora, which in a sense made her line of work good and bad. Bad that she was a snatcher, but good she wasn't hunting Sky. "To be honest I'm kind of glad you aren't a den snatcher. I wouldn't even bother fighting you, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to," she opened up slightly, it apparent how much Nora meant to her. Sky wanted Nora to know that this was painful for her even if she was playing it cool. She always did and she always will. "I can imagine - vampires aren't the nicest of creatures, even I'll admit that. Have you actually ... y'know, caught any?" she asked, curiosity growing with her profession. Of all people Sky knew Nora could handle almost anything thrown her way.
Nora's next comment left Sky silent for a moment, she trying to think of the right words to say. Sky's eyes floated down to her tea cup again, she feeling the uncomfortable air around them. This was awkward and bloody awful. "I know you aren't a direct threat to me," she started, fishing for the right phrases and words choices. "But you are still a threat, and I can't take any extra risks right now," she looked back to Nora for a moment, pushing a stray piece of hair out of her face. Sky wasn't going to speak of the betrayal she felt or ask her why she did this because Nora always had her reasons, and Sky wasn't sure she wanted to hear them. She didn't say anything actually, just watched Nora with intense eyes, hoping she would understand at lest to an extent.

Why was this so difficult? Sky knew about her being a snatcher and what was done was done, but seeing the expression on the woman's face was probably the one and only thing that had brought Nora any sliver of guilt thus far. Perhaps the fact that her friend wasn't even quite angry yet, or not expressing it, made it worse. It all sounded so formal, each trying to reply to the other in a diplomatic sort of way. The blonde couldn't decide if that was for the best or if reserving their frustration would only hinder things in the long run. Mine as well get it all out on the table now, right? Nora didn't exactly want to make a scene in the middle of Madame Pudifoot's, but holding back wasn't something either of them usually did. It was a fine line the two were walking on at the moment, and she didn't think it would take much for that balance to tip. Case in point, as Sky growled out her next few words, and the snatcher could see just a glimpse of her anger.
Biting on her lip, Nora thought for a moment, trying to weigh out the possible options and responses she had. Thinking before she spoke wasn't a usual routine for her, so why was she starting now? Granted, the woman really didn't want to hurt Sky's feelings since she was one of the few friends she had to her name, but they needed to be honest with each other. Nora was tired of tip-toeing over words and trying to say the right thing and not mess what ever friendship they might be able to salvage after this meeting.
"Sounding just like the minister, eh? Is that supposed to be an insult?" The Ravenclaw questioned her sharply, looking towards Skyanna with about as much contempt as she could at the moment. "Because sounding like him just happens to be my job, and he's the most important man in the country." The blonde was done with trying to keep up the facade that everything was all right and that they could work this out. Sky seemed to have calmed herself a bit as she continued on, and reluctantly Nora took a sharp breath in and held her tongue long enough to listen to what she had to say. And the professor had valid points, she would give her that much, but nothing she couldn't argue. "Just comply with the Ministry and it will be fine. They're not looking at Hogwarts anyways." Nora sighed slightly, feeling just a tad guilty. The statement may have been somewhat of a lie, but really as far as her knowledge went it was the truth. Higher up in the department there may be some different ideas... but Skyanna didn't need to know that just yet.
The anger that had threatened to bubble over had slightly subsided as they continued. Should they just resign and accept the fact that they would never see eye to eye? Debating things didn't seem to be getting the two anywhere. this isn't going to work. we're different. Nora did soften a bit, giving her friend a small smile. "That's... appreciated," she commented, trying to find the right word. An ambush certainly would not have went over well. Not that this was going good, but she supposed things could have definitely gone worse by this point. The snatcher frowned slightly as Sky continued, making things even more difficult. A small bit of doubt had crossed into her mind as the Ravenclaw opened up to her more. "I don't know what I would do either," Nora said simply, taking a drink of her tea. Being a den snatcher would create even more conflict than they already had, not to mention that she wasn't sure if she could bring herself to fight her friend either. She laughed slightly at the curious question. "Well, we don't take them out for dinner once we find them," the blonde said sarcastically. It wasn't much of a joking matter, but she at least tried to lighten the mood some. Not very successful, it seemed.
Nora listened and felt her face turn into a frown. Sky's words cut deep, more than she wanted to admit, but they were both too stubborn to show any signs of weakness. "So I'm just a risk now. I see," the snatcher said, a little bitterly. She understood, of course, but that didn't make it hurt any less. This was getting all too complicated. She missed the simple times of their school years where all they had to worry about was the exam coming up or what to wear to a dance. Nora let out a sigh, furrowing her brow. "This isn't going to work." She wasn't even precisely sure as to what she was referring to in the rather broad statement... just everything. Them.

I dont want to talk to you anymore, im afraid of what I might say. I bite my tongue every time you come around - theirs blood in my mouth bitch, lord don't fuck around. This conversation was going just as Sky imagined it would. Almost, at lest. There were a few things that she imagined happening differently, but for the most part this was as unpleasant as she prepared herself for. Ending a friendship over something like this was never easy, Sky didn't expect it to be a walk in the park. It was nice at first, the two keeping themselves calm and collected but that was done now. Sky could feel her anger rising, feel herself get tense. Sky always had a bit of a temper on her but it only got worse when she was changed. Right now she was envisioning herself leaping across the table at Nora, ripping her throat out and throwing her corpse out the window. She knew that such actions would cause an uproar, not to mention Nora would have put up one hell of a fight. The werewolf wondered if Nora could see the anger written all over her body, or feel it in the air. Sky taught herself well about keeping things under control, but sometimes she just couldn't control it.
"It was an insult. And I couldn't call doing the ministry's dirty work a job. you're their fucking pet," she hissed through clenched teeth, keeping her voice down a bit. She wasn't being nice anymore. At least at the moment. "I will never submit to that mans prejudice ideals. You honestly think he is doing this for the greater good? He is using fear to gain power and it's bloody working. He has already made so much progress Hogwarts is next. You cant tell me he has you so blinded that you cant even see that," she said, her voice going from an angry low growl to something more .. sincere. She almost sounded desperate, trying to hard to plead her case to who she considered her best friend for years. But she knew the words she said would cut Nora like a knife, she would not take that sitting down and Sky was prepared for the back lash. The girls always agreed on topics of importance but it seems this was the first time they were on opposite sides of the playing field. She didn't like it at all - Nora was always her greatest ally, but now she was one of her biggest enemy.
The mood lightened up a bit, Sky not really wanting to return to the topic of the minister and his policies. She smiled at her, her anger seeming to subside a bit at Nora's small comments. She let out a tiny laugh. "What, no last meal?" she grinned a bit at her comment, going along with her small joke. Sky and Nora generally complimented each other in that sense, they both having what others considered awkward personalities and tendencies. Maybe that is why they got along so well. Sky shook her head at Nora's comments. "You're not the risk. but your job is. I would ask you not to take this personally but I think we're past that point," Sky murmured, eyes fluttering down to her tea cup. "You were - are - my best friend Nora. But you are driven and loyal. I can't ask you to protect me when your job requires you do the opposite. If someone asked you where they could find a werewolf could you honestly tell me you wouldn't tell them where I was?" she asked, calm and collected as she tried to make this as painless as possible. "I can't ask you to do that. I wont. It's just easier if .. you don't know where I am. or how I am. or what I'm doing, who I'm seeing and who I'm friends with," she said, rambling on a bit as her eyes glazed over slightly. If she was alone she probably would have cried. But she refused to look weak in front of Nora. She turned her head so she was looking to the right, biting her bottom lip. "No," she started. "This isn't going to work."

And indeed, Nora could see the anger etched in her friend's features, her tense body language, the color rising slightly in their cheeks. Being in the middle of a tea shop made it a little hard to full out argue, causing a scene in the middle of Madame Pudifoot's wouldn't help matters any. In fact, that seemed to be one of the few things that kept the Ravenclaw from losing her temper. It took a great deal to push her patience, but she could snap just like anyone else, and it would not be a pretty picture. Things had started out civil, but both of them knew that couldn't last forever, and whatever trace of friendship was between them would most likely be ended that afternoon. Struggling to control her voice, she scowled at Skyanna as she spoke.
"The only thing that makes it dirty is having to deal with people like you," Nora retorted, her words hanging sharply in the ear. She almost regretted it, but not quite. "Whatever side you're on, at least we're doing something instead of running away like cowards." The Ministry was doing this for the greater good and half the magical creatures were fleeing like the bunch of animals that they were. She glared as she addressed Skyanna, this had turned ugly. And fast. The woman tried her best to keep her voice low, but the contempt behind it was obvious. Her venomous remarks cut through the diplomatic conversation that they had been engaged in previously. It had started getting personal, and as long as Sky was debating the justness of the decrees, Nora would defend her views and way of life. In an argument where both side thought they were right and were equally stubborn, not a whole lot of good would be coming out of this.
The blonde bit down on her lip, glancing down and avoiding eye contact with Skyanna. She felt bad. There were very few people that she was close to, and the woman was one of them. Nora wasn't stupid, and she knew exactly how this was going to end. Each word only brought them closer to the inevitable. Feeling her stomach drop as Skyanna continued speaking, it wasn't anything she hadn't expected to hear, but that didn't make it any easier to process. This was simple. The two had reached the points where their different views couldn't coexist anymore. It seemed so straightforward, but then why was it so complicated? Nora sighed, finding no way to respond to Sky and wanting to retain any scrap of friendship between them, though it seemed like a lost cause. She had given up arguing, fighting, there was no point. Neither of them were going to be convinced by the other. This really wasn't going to work, and the snatcher had to accept that.
"I don't agree with you Sky, but I respect you," she said quietly. They had been friends, nothing that happened could erase the past between them and no matter what happened there was still something there. "But I'll be the only one. The others aren't as understanding." She looked up to finally meet the other Ravenclaw's eyes. Nora was going relatively easy on her compared to what she could have done. With more snatchers signing up by the day and the Ministry getting stricter and stricter, the blonde honestly wasn't sure how her friend's future would end up.

I dont want to talk to you anymore, im afraid of what I might say. I bite my tongue every time you come around - theirs blood in my mouth bitch, lord don't fuck around. It was strange being on the receiving end of Nora's harsh comments, Sky normally being on her side with everything. For the most part anyways, the two had always gotten along so well in school. They stuck together and were able to fend off those Purebloods who always gave Sky problems and whoever felt the need to pick on Nora, she being so odd. She looked at her friend coldly, her comments cutting through the tense air around them like a knife. It took everything in Sky's power to keep her anger down, she looking around the tea room and spotting a few wondering eyes focused on the two ladies. The people there knew that they weren't having pleasant conversation, despite the calm appearances that the two ladies were having. Making a scene in the tea polar would not have went over well and only give the minister more reason to get magical creatures locked up and put away. Not to mention it would probably attract the attention of some snatchers who were actually trained to get werewolves.
Sky knew Nora saw the anger and frustration painted on her being, but she didn't care. She had to know how upset she was, her negative emotions more of a product of the person involved rather then the task. Sky didn't have many people she considered friends, loosing one was never easy. Sky was calm and collected, a silence coming over them for a moment. "How easily you submit to ideas that aren't your own. I honestly expected better from you - but I guess I can't argue with the pay," she spoke softly, her words not sharp and negative as hers were. Her thick british accent was laced with disappointment, Sky feeling defeated. She knew nothing good would come of this the minute she asked her out for tea, but she didn't expect to feel so let down at the end of this conversation. Sky placed her cup of tea to her lips, taking the last and final sip from the cup, giving a slightly disgusted look because it had gotten cold. Her sour expression turned into a slight grin, realizing she probably looked relatively silly - some humor among their conversation.
"I know," Sky responded, giving her a nod in agreement, understanding. "That's because despite what I may have said you are still the good part of the bad," Sky said, giving a slight nod. They may have been on different sides but Sky still knew Nora very well. "You're more .. understanding. Intelligent. Adaptable to situations. No doubt you are good at what you do," she said, shaking her head a bit. Sky respected Nora, just disagreed with her on this. Something that was too big for them to get past, at lest at the moment. Sky sat in silence for a moment, rummaging through her coat pocket to get her wallet to pay for their tea. She had complete intention of paying for Nora's, she was the one that led her there under false pretenses. Once she had out the money Sky stopped, and looked to Nora, reflecting a bit of weakness for the girl. "When all this is over - whether I'm in a camp or you are out of a job - I hope this can just be a bad memory," she spoke softly, knowing this wouldn't last forever. That was the thing about a war, one side had to loose. She hoped that Nora could be her comrade again, but a lot of things were said here. It is entirely possible they were past the point of turning back.

It was quite obvious, as their conversation went on, that it would be one of their last. It was odd to think about all the talks they had had in the past boiled down to this one disagreement. It was a shame that so many years of friendship had to end up this way. If she had a choice in the matter, the blond wouldn't have cut ties so abruptly, but she knew their differences were too much to overcome at this point. The two of them were awfully stubborn, and Nora knew that the more she talked and tried to justify her actions, the less Sky would think of her. No amount of convincing would change things, unfortunately. The snatcher wished she could believe otherwise, but it was futile. Attempting to argue the woman's points was useless, she instead she pursed her lips and did all she could to stay silent. Skyanna's last words couldn't be ignored, though.
The Ravenclaw head of house was right, in what she alluded to. This wouldn't go on forever. One side would eventually prevail over the other. Nora had complete faith that it would be the Ministry and not the rogue group of rebels. How could they overtake such an organized operation being on a rag tag bunch that didn't have the government or the press of their side? Nora didn't want to think that they might have the people. Either way, one of them would be proven right, and the woman certainly didn't want that to be her friend. She would feel like an incredible fool if that were to happen, saying that these new regulations and her job were for the best just to be proven wrong.
Would she ever even see Sky again after this? Nora couldn't imagine that she would be very open about her whereabouts, and it's not like the snatcher came to Hogwarts very often any more. What about if - or when - she was put into a camp? What would happen then? Contemplating Skyanna's fate made her a little uneasy, but that was life. What had to be done had to be done, and sometimes that came at the cost of friendship. A small price in the bigger picture, really.
"Well, best of luck Sky," Nora said genuinely. She took the last sip of her tea and set the empty cup back down on the table. There wasn't much more for them to discuss. "I honestly wish it didn't have to be this way." They might not understand each other, but the blonde still had a bit of respect for Sky, more than she could say for most other people. This was more than just a bad memory. There would be plenty of time to dissect everything that her friend had said later, though. Now all Nora could think about was getting out of the tea shop in one piece and not showing how much the past few minutes had affected her.
